Russia will possibly supply second batch of ten Su-35 fighter jets to China this year and similarly another ten in 2018.
Already the first four vehicles were supplied in late last year, Tass reported today.
Russia and China signed a contract in November 2015 for the delivery of 24 Su-35 fighter jets. The three-year deal for the supplies of aircraft, ground equipment and spare engines is estimated at $2 billion.
The Su-35 Flanker-E is a highly upgraded 4++-generation super-maneuverable multipurpose fighter jet incorporating fifth-generation technologies.
Its maximum speed is 2,500 km/h, flying range is 3,400 km, and combat radius - around 1,600 km.
China has confirmed receiving four Russian-made Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets in late December, but said that Su-35 could be the last combat plane China would import because of advances in its own fighter jet program. The Peoples Liberation Armys website recently mentioned that with the commissioning of the J-20 domestically developed stealth fighter by China, Russia has understood that the Su-35 “would be losing its value on the Chinese market in the near future”, so was eager to complete the Su-35 deal
