A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) F-7 PG single-engine, lightweight fighter aircraft crashed near Sargodha on Thursday, according to PAF spokesperson.

One PAF official, identified as Lieutenant Bilal, suffered a leg fracture as a result of the incident, Geo.tv reported Thursday.

The jet was on a training mission, the spokesperson remarked, adding that rescue operation is under way.

According to details, the pilot had flown the jet from PAF Base Samungli, located near Quetta, to participate in training exercise in Sargodha, where the incident occurred.

A board of inquiry has been ordered by Air Headquarters to determine the cause of the accident.

A Pakistan Air Force pilot died after his F-7 plane crashed due to a technical fault during a routine operational flight in the country's Punjab province last week. According to reports, some 10 F-7PGs/FT-7PGs (aircraft) have crashed during the last 10 years or so.
