Northrop Grumman has won $444.6 million contract for support of the AAQ-24 large aircraft infrared counter-measure for repair of 34 national stock numbers to Canada and Bahrain.

Work is expected to be completed by Dec. 14, 2022. This contract involves 3.9 percent foreign military sales funds in the amount of $17,200,000 to Canada and Bahrain, the US department of defense said in a statement Wednesday.

The AN/AAQ-24(V) Directional Infrared Countermeasure (DIRCM) system is available in a laser-based configuration.

A DIRCM simultaneously tracks and defeats threats in clutter environments and threat detection and simultaneous jamming in all current IR threat Bands (I, II and IV). It counters all fielded IR missile threats using a single generic jam waveform, according to Northrop Grumman.
