Cons

Investors should be bearish about investing in iShares iBoxx $ Investment Grade Corporate Bond ET for these reasons:

  • Interest rate risk: If interest rates rise, the value of existing bonds in the ETF may decrease, leading to potential capital losses for investors.
  • Inflation risk: Inflation erodes the purchasing power of fixed income investments like bonds, impacting the real returns for investors.
  • Limited potential for capital appreciation: Investment-grade corporate bonds are more focused on income generation rather than capital growth, which may not suit investors seeking high returns.
  • Market risk: Fluctuations in the overall bond market can affect the ETF's performance, subjecting investors to market volatility.
  • Credit risk: While investment-grade bonds are considered safer, there is still a risk of default by the issuing companies, which could impact the ETF's returns.
