Singapore-based SilkAir has selected Rockwell Collins’ new MultiScan ThreatTrack weather radar, for its 23 Next-Generation Boeing 737s.
SilkAir has also chosen Rockwell Collins Dispatch 100 service and asset management program for its new Boeing fleet.
“With its selection of MultiScan ThreatTrack, SilkAir’s passengers will experience safer flights because of the system’s ability to provide more defined atmospheric threat information to the pilots than ever before,” said Colin Mahoney, senior vice president, International and Services Solutions for Rockwell Collins. “SilkAir’s operational efficiency will be further enhanced with Dispatch 100, which maximizes aircraft availability with guaranteed spares and predictable maintenance costs.”
MultiScan ThreatTrack goes beyond hail and lightning prediction within a thunderstorm cell and alerts pilots to these significant threats adjacent to or above the cell. In addition, the new radar is the first in the industry to feature two levels of turbulence detection—severe and ride-quality—which more accurately informs flight crews of the type of turbulence in their path.
Also included in SilkAir’s selection are Rockwell Collins’ GLU-925 Multi-Mode Receiver(MMR)—the first ever certified GPS Landing System receiver, automatic detection finder (ADF), distance measuring equipment (DME), VOR short-range radio navigation system and HF/VHF radios.
“We look forward to bringing Rockwell Collins’ innovative, safety-enhancing avionics solutions and its world-class service and support to our new fleet,” said Goh Boon Hwee, vice president, Operations, SilkAir.
Rockwell Collins unveiled new features, which include the integration of sensor data from the Aeryon SkyRanger small Unmanned Aerial System (sUAS) and the SpotterRF Ground Surveillance Radar (GSR) to its Patrol Persistent Surveillance System (PPSS) Today. The company announced the enhancements at the Land Forces 2014 trade show in Brisbane, Australia
Sandia National Laboratories and Rockwell Collins are selected for Phase 3 of the DARPA Meso-dynamic Architectures program. The aim of the program is to research light-to-sound conversion in ultra-small optical waveguides and develop future system capabilities beyond those attainable with existing technology
Rockwell Collins delivered Gen III Helmet Mounted Display System (HMDS) to Lockheed Martin for software integration into the F-35 Lightning II aircraft. The Gen III HMDS will be integrated into Low Rate Initial Production 7 for the F-35 program
Rockwell Collins bagged a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) contract to develop new electronically scanned array (ESA) antenna technology as part of the Arrays at Commercial Timescales (ACT) program. This program aims to make ESAs, a common building block component that is digitally interconnected, reconfigurable, and readily upgradeable
