Representatives of the Brazilian Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DCTA), met with representatives of Saab to discuss the beginning of the certification process of the Gripen NG aircraft, Brazilian Air Force said in a statement.

The certifications of the Gripen NG aircraft with respect to airworthiness requirements and fulfillment of the mission will be carried out by Swedish government agencies.

The IFI will monitor these processes and, after validating them, will issue a Type Certificate to the Gripen NG aircraft project.

During the meeting, the company was presented a brief history of the Institute and the company, in turn, presented to the certifying body its organizational structure involved in the development of the aircraft.

IFI analysts debated the Certification Master Plan that SAAB will submit to the IFI, in order to enable the acceptance of this document. Also discussed was the SAAB Aeronautics Quality Assurance System and how the Institute will verify compliance with the requirements.

In the Government Quality Assurance process, the IFIs will make a validation of the Quality System adopted by SAAB.
