Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) will be exhibiting the latest generation vehicle systems at IDEX 2015.
KMW is presenting the GTK Boxer as a wheeled armoured personnel carrier variant with a Puma turret for the first time. Integrating the advanced infantry fighting vehicle’s turret into the Boxer's 8x8 chassis unites the state of the art technologies of both of these systems, which have already been qualified and introduced into the German Armed Forces.
The unmanned turret with its sighting system and 30mm automatic cannon alongside the high mobility of the Boxer chassis make this Boxer a unique wheeled armoured personnel carrier.
The high level of protection against heavy blast mines and machine guns is also the basis of this vehicle variant's survivability and sustainment capabilities when deployed.
The Boxer's modular design concept allows for a variety of mission specific vehicle variants. Numerous modules such as the ambulance, training or command post variants have already been introduced to the German and Dutch Armed Forces. The recently presented artillery variant emphasizes the unique capability spectrum of this system.
The Leopard demonstration unit shows the adaptability and augmentation capabilities of the most widely used main battle tank in the Western world.
KMW has underlined its skills in individually adapting vehicle systems with the upgrade options for the Leopard 2. In this vein, the demonstration unit includes a remote controllable Remote Controlled Weapon Station 200 (FLW200) with a mounting fixture for a 7.62mm machine gun.
