Lockheed Martin Wins F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter advance acquisition contract

Lockheed Martin has won a $5.3 billion contract from US department of defense to produce Lot IX F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter.

Work is expected to be completed in December 2017, the US DOD announced today.

Fiscal 2016 aircraft procurement (Air Force, Marine Corps, and Navy); and non-US Department of Defense participants and foreign military sales funds in the amount of $625 million are being obligated on this award.

The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity.
