First Raytheon-built Joint Stand-off Weapon (JSOW) or air-to-ground network enabled weapon has been delivered to the fleet.
The JSOW completed initial operational capability earlier this month testing against sea and land targets, providing more lethality and accuracy for deployed air wings, Naval Air Systems Command said in a statement.
The two-way datalink allows the F/A-18E/F and F-35A/C launch aircraft or another controller to provide real-time target updates to the weapon, shift it to a different target or abort the mission.
It will also allow enemy engagement from longer distances and offer the flexibility for direct attack even if enemy air defenses deny access to the jets.
Raytheon has won a contract worth $28 million for integration of the Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) onto various US Air Force and Navy aircraft platforms. “Contractor will facilitate several new task orders for platform integration support including the F-16 Block 30, F-35, F-15 Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System; F-16 Active Electronically Scanned Array; AMRAAM Real Time Integration Simulator; and multiple F/A-18 configurations,” the US Department of defense announced
Australia's Department of Defence has selected Raytheon to supply the ELCAN Specter DR 1-4x dual role weapon sight for $54 million. The ELCAN Specter dual field-of-view (1X and 4X) sight will replace the ADF's standard 1
The US Missile Defense Agency successfully tests Orbital ATKs enhanced MK 136 Third Stage Rocket Motor (TSRM) nozzle on the Raytheon Standard Missile (SM)-3 Block IB in Controlled Test Vehicles (CTVs)-01a/02. These flight tests were conducted on May 25 and 26, 2016, respectively, at the Pacific Missile Range Facility
Raytheon Company and the US Navy completed the final developmental test to integrate the Joint Standoff Weapon C onto the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter's C variant, keeping the low-cost, air-to-ground missile on track for full deployment in 2019. The JSOW glide weapon uses a GPS-inertial navigation system with an imaging infrared seeker that can identify and track targets autonomously
Raytheon Missile Systems is being rewarded $172.8 million contract action to procure 200 AGM-154C Block III joint standoff weapons, 212 containers, various component parts and support equipment for spares, and engineering and technical support for the government of Qatar
