Armtec Awarded $18M to Provide Infrared Countermeasures To Egypt and Iraq
Infrared counter-measures

Armtec Countermeasures Co., has been awarded an $18 million modification to Foreign Military Sales (Egypt and Iraq) contract for the procurement of  infrared countermeasure flares (409,400, M206; 42,840, MJU-7A/B; and 11,472, MJU-10/B) to protect military aircraft.

Combined with electronic-warfare suites, infrared flare countermeasures are a primary defense against incoming enemy missiles.

Systems such as the BAE Systems' The AN/ALQ-157 IRCM System protects large, heavy-lift helicopters and medium-sized, fixed-wing aircraft from Band I, II infrared threats, including first-generation surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles. It can defeat multiple threats simultaneously and employ “jam-in-tube” capability for certain threats. With continuous active jamming and extreme adaptability features, the AN/ALQ-157 system provides constant protection.
