Cubic Global Defense has been awarded $61 million contract for P5 combat training system/tactical combat training system updates.
The contract includes, but is not limited to, modifications to ensure the P5 system and supporting infrastructure meets or exceeds dynamic emerging government requirements, US Department of Defense said in a statement Wednesday.
Work is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2022.
The P5 CTS/TCTS is the program of record air combat training system for the U.S. plus many allied air forces. The system allows the U.S. Marines, Navy and Air Force to train on a common platform with coalition partners. It sets the standard for joint, multiservice and coalition training.
This system is comprised of easily transportable components with advanced security features, real-time weapons simulations and live monitoring functions. P5 CTS/TCTS incorporates a long-range datalink to continuously transmit and receive the Time, Space, Position Information (TSPI) of each aircraft during the exercise and to send Real-Time Kill Notifications (RTKN) to the aircrew via synthesized voice communications.
The system can be used in tethered/range operations for monitoring and managing the exercise on the ground or at sea aboard aircraft carriers. In addition, the P5 system can also be used without ground stations for untethered/range-less operations, allowing pilots to train “anywhere, anytime.” Either approach provides realistic, real-time training for air-to-air, air-to-ground and surface-to-air combat training missions.
