Russia Plans to Purchase Additional 114 Ka-52 Helicopters Under New State Arms Program

The Russian defense ministry intends to purchase an additional 114 Ka-52 helicopters under the new State Arms Program 2018-2027.

The Ministry of Defense of Russia plans to conclude a contract for the purchase of an additional 114 Ka-52 Alligator helicopters as part of the implementation of the new State Arms Program 2018-2027.

"This will be a new modification, discussing just the details, as far as the designers are in time to carry out all the necessary modifications," the Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov told journalists Tuesday.

Yuri Borisov noted that for the Ka-52 will get new long-range missiles, in addition to an improved optical-sighting system.

The deputy minister also said that according to the plan in 2018, the VCS should receive six new Ka-52s.

The reconnaissance-strike helicopter Ka-52 "Alligator" is serially produced for the Russian MoD since 2007. It is designed to destroy tanks, armored and unarmored combat vehicles, manpower, helicopters and other enemy aircraft, in all weather conditions and at any time of the day.

The helicopter is equipped with the most modern avionics and powerful weapons, which can be configured for various combat missions. In addition, the Ka-52 "Alligator" is equipped with visibility reduction devices that reduce, dissipate and distort the thermal traces of engines, electronic protection system, as well as active countermeasures.
