Irkut has completed the maiden flight of the second MC-21- 300 test aircraft. The testing results of the first test aircraft were taken into account in the production of a new aircraft.
The flight program included testing the aircraft for stability and controllability for various wing configurations with retracting and extension landing gear, as well as testing the on-board equipment. The duration of flight was 1 hour 7 minutes at an altitude of 3000 meters at a speed of up to 400 km / h, Irkut said in a statement Saturday.
Acting Minister of industry and trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov said, “Three MC-21- 300 aircraft are taking part in the test program: two of them fly, one passes static tests in TsAGI.
“In addition, the Irkutsk Aviation Plant is building three more test aircraft. In parallel with the flight and static tests, active preparations are being held for the deployment of serial production of the new airliner,” mentioned Manturov.
The President of UAC and Irkut Corporation Yuri Slyusar said that Aviastar-SP plant has started manufacturing panels for the first aircraft to be delivered to customers. “The most modern scalable assembly line for the newest civil airliners was commissioned at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant. Within the UAC, fundamentally new competencies have been developed in the field of production of structures from polymer composite materials. Their widespread use is one of the main advantages of the aircraft. The new high-tech production will ensure the development of the MC-21 program and other perspective aviation projects,” Yuri Slyusar said.
Rostec is the integrator of number of MC-21 aircraft systems. Rostec Enterprises produce more than 50% of the airliner avionics, providing titanium for the MC-21 program, and also supply composite panels of the tail unit. United Engine Corporation, a part of the Rostec State Corporation, will become a supplier of PD-14 engines, which, along with the Pratt & Whitney PW1400G engines, will be installed on the MC-21 serial aircraft.
In February 2018 Aeroflot airlines signed a firm contract with the Avia Capital Services leasing company (subsidiary of Rostec State Corporation) for the delivery of 50 MC-21- 300 aircraft.
The first MC-21- 300 aircraft undergoes flight tests at the airfield of Flight Research Institute n.a. M.M. Gromov (Zhukovsky city, Moscow region). Tests confirm the correctness of technical solutions. In particular, the aircraft was tested for stability and controllability, its takeoff and landing characteristics were determined, various modes of operation of the power plant were tested, including engine start in flight, the characteristics of the aircraft withdrawal from deep bank roles were determined.
A large number of ground tests are conducted within the program. In TsAGI strength tests of MC-21 are carried out. The composite wing box tests (completed at the end of 2017) confirmed its sufficient strength for flight operations at the limit modes.
Second prototype of Russias MC-21-300 aircraft has been assembled and is ready for flight testing. At the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, a branch of Irkut Corporation,
The infusion technology of Russian firm JSC AeroComposit for wing manufacture of the MC-21 aircraft has won the innovative solutions award at the JEC World – 2018 event in Paris, the worlds leading composite technology show. JSC AeroComposit won the award on March 7 in the Aerospace Industry category, a press release from Russias Irkut Corp, which assembles the MC-21 airliner aircraft said
The second prototype of Russias MC-21-300 airliner is being prepared for first flight even as the first aircraft has completed more than 30 flights. Flight tests of MC-21-300, the new medium-range aircraft confirm the correctness of key design and production solutions, Kirill Budayev, vice-president of Irkut Corporation said on the sidelines of the Singapore Air show
Rostec has received a firm order to supply 50 medium range MC-21 passenger aircraft to Aeroflot. Under the firm order, Rostec leasing subsidiary Aviacapital-Service will supply Aeroflot with 50 MC-21-300 aircraft on operating leases
Russian Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI) has completed another stage of static tests of a composite load-bearing wing box of MC-21-300 aircraft. The lead designer of the aircraft is Irkut Corporation
Saudi Arabia is eyeing Russia's newest commercial aircraft -- Sukhoi Superjet 100 and MC-21, and is reportedly in talks for the purchase with the Russian officials. In an interview with TASS, Director for International Cooperation and Regional Politics at the Rostec state corporation Viktor Kladov said: "We have an active dialogue with Saudi Arabia on a whole number of areas, they are interested not only in the Russian equipment, but also in technologies
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) have conducted preliminary examination flights of Russian airliner MC-21-300 and will soon conduct certification tests. The EASA test pilots have performed the following procedures on the simulators and test benches: take-off, approach and landing using both landing systems and visual approaches; handling qualities and controllability characteristics of MC-21-300 aircraft in various control modes within the entire range of admissible operating altitudes, speeds, weights and centres of gravity; actions in case of emergency; and approaching high angles of attack, when the stall warning activates
Aeroflot and the United Aircraft Corporation signed an agreement for the delivery of 100 of Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) at the Eastern Economic Forum, Monday. The agreement assumes the delivery of 100 Russian aircraft SSJ100 during the period from 2019 till 2026
The Russian Air Force will receive four upgraded MiG-31BM high-altitude fighter interceptors by the end of the year. “Party of four modernized MiG-31BM fighter interceptors will be delivered to the Russian defense forces for armament by the end of the year,” Russian Ministry of Defense posted on its twitter handle Wednesday
