Saab has signed a contract with South Korea’s Defence Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) regarding support for the Arthur Weapon Locating System.
The Performance Based Logistics (PBL) contract includes spare parts supply and support for the Republic of Korea Army and Marine Corps. The contract value is approximately 500 million SEK (US$ 57 million) and the contract period 2018-2023.
“South Korea, the largest operator of our Arthur Weapon Locating System, is a very important customer with demanding requirements. This five-year contract is further proof of our successful collaboration with the South Korean forces and we are proud to continue contributing to the country’s safety by providing on-site support for the Arthur systems, says Anders Carp, Senior Vice President and Head of Saab’s business area Surveillance.
Saab will carry out the majority of the work with its local support team in South Korea, while all spare parts will be supplied by Saab in Gothenburg, Sweden.
South Korea deploys Saab’s Arthur weapon-locating radar system to detect incoming enemy artillery 24/7 and give residents an enhanced 90 second warning of incoming fire. Arthur has the ability to rapidly detect incoming artillery fire and can calculate the firing site and point of impact, enabling effective counter-fire within a few seconds. Following a border crisis in 2015, the South Korea awarded Saab for its on-ground Arthur support contributions.
Saab has been chosen for a mortar ammunition contract for 81mm grenades from an undisclosed customer. The order includes the high explosive grenade WG, as well as the explosive grenade EUG and potentially the newest product from SBDS which is the THOR - the latest version of pre fragmented mortar grenades
Saab has received an order from the Royal Thai Air Force for an upgrade of Thailands national Air Command and Control System. Saab will upgrade and further enhance the Royal Thai Air Forces Air Command and Control System (ACCS) which is based on Saabs 9AIR C4I product and has been in operation with the Royal Thai Air Force since 2010
Saab has received $18 million order from its German partner Diehl Defence for the Anti-Ship Missile RBS15 Mk3 ship system. The order has other priced options related to Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) and IT Security
Saab has received an additional order from the United States Navy to supply Sea Giraffe AMB Multi Mode Radar (MMR) for the US Coast Guards newest class of ship, the Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC). The MMR system is three dimensional, electronically scanned phased array radar providing high-radiated power, selectable waveforms, and modern signal processing
Saab announced today that it has received an order from the Norwegian Defense Logistic Organization (NDLO) for a prototype of Mid-Life Upgrade of Arthur weapon-location radar system. The order amounts to approximately $13 million (SEK115 million)
