Germany's parliamentary Secretary of State for Defence,Thomas handed over six Mercedes-Benz G-Class LAPV vehicles (light armoured patrol vehicles) at the Golubovci air base to Montenegro's Chief of General Staff, General Drakutin Dakić.
The vehicle is known as the Enok in Germany. Its OM 642 diesel engine develops an output of 184 hp (135 kW). It has a top speed of around 100 km/h with a range of 700 km.The permissible gross vehicle weight of the armoured vehicle can be as much as 6.1 tonnes.
The vehicle features impressive off-roading characteristics for rough roads and is thus suitable for operations in the toughest of conditions.
Secretary of State Silberhorn reminded those present of the considerable contribution which Montenegro makes as part of NATO and the deployment of Montenegrin soldiers in current international missions.
Silberhorn also underlined the German government's desire to continue offering their defence support to Montenegro.
Montenegro has considered strengthening cyber security, police capabilities and intelligence services to prevent hacking attacks amid reports that Russian hackers had a role in downing several websites on Election Day, October 16. The government is also establishing a national council for online security, forming a special unit to combat high tech crime within the police and by buying new equipment and modern software, according to the action plan discussed last week during the government's session, which was seen by Biomedical Informatics Research Network (BIRN)
