Some 300 weapons including the Kalibr cruise missile have been “fine-tuned” based on Russia’s combat experience in Syria.
Giving the example of the Kalibr missile, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said in an interview with a local publication yesterday, "earlier it took long to upload a flight mission for the Kalibr missile that a target could be missed. Today however, it takes much less time to upload a flight mission for the Kalibr."
He also mentioned that another 12 weapon types, which had been earlier considered as promising, were taken out of production and service (based on Syrian experience), Shoigu noted without specifying what these weapons were.
The Kalibr missiles were extensively used by Russia to attack Islamic State and other terrorist positions. Fired from long range aircraft and submarines, the missiles were considered a major success of Russian military operations over Syria.
