The fire that engulfed Russia's sole aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov on Thursday while the vessel was undergoing engine repairs, has been put-off.
"At 5 a.m., firefighters extinguished the blaze onboard Russia’s aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov, which is under renovation in Murmansk, northwest Russia," a source in the emergencies services was quoted as saying by TASS on Friday.
"The fire engulfed 500 square meters," the source said.
The fire broke out in the first power unit of the eighth deck on Thursday morning.
The raging inferno that was reportedly caused due to violation of safety rules, has killed one person and has left nearly a dozen others injured.
