Taliban claims Shooting Down US military aircraft in Afghanistan, Pentagon Denies

The Taliban has claimed shooting down a US military aircraft in Eastern Afghanistan even as the US Military said it was investigating the crash.

The aircraft with two pilots went down in an area controlled largely by the Taliban group on Monday.

An American spokesman in Kabul said a US Bombardier E-11A crashed on Monday in Ghazni province, Afghanistan. “While the cause of crash is under investigation, there are no indications the crash was caused by enemy fire,” he said.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in a Pashto-language statement that “An aircraft of American occupiers has crashed in Ghazni province”, adding that all the crew members onboard had been killed.

Various Taliban social media accounts claimed the aircraft of the “enemy occupier” had been shot down.

Earlier reports said the aircraft belonged to Ariana Afghan Airlines which was denied by the airline.
