Among the recent spurt in violence in Afghanistan, the Taliban terrorist group had planned to launch yet another attack on Afghan military, which was foiled by the latter.
“25 Talib terrorists were killed in Kandahar Province while they were preparing to attack Afghan Army position in Loy Karez area of Shahwali Kot district. The group was targeted by the Army. A large amount of their weapons and ammunition were destroyed in preemptive attack,” Afghanistan Ministry of Defense said in a statement today.
The ministry added that 25 Talib terrorists were killed during the clashes, and a large amount of weapons & ammunition were destroyed.
“Last night, Afghan National Defense & Security Forces (ANDSF) repelled Taliban attack in Da-Doshanba area of Logar provincial center. 7 Taliban members were killed and 5 other were wounded,” the ministry added.
In February, the United States and Taliban signed an "agreement for bringing peace" to war-torn Afghanistan. The US and NATO allies agreed to withdraw all troops from the country within 14 months if Taliban upholds the deal. The group also agreed not to allow al-Qaeda or any other extremist group to operate in the areas they control.
