Turkey’s Bayraktar TB2 drone hit a target at the longest range to date with smart ammunition in a naval drill held in the Eastern Mediterranean last week.

The drone included in Turkey’s Naval Forces Command (DzKK) inventory fired MAM-L laser-guided mini smart ammunition during a Blue Homeland 2021 tactical exercise. A video footage of the same was shared by the National Defense Ministry on twitter.

The ministry did not reveal the distance at which the Bayraktar struck its target. This tactical UAV has a range of more than 150 km and can fly at a maximum altitude of 27,030ft. It has a maximum speed of 220 kmph, cruise speed of 130 kmph and endurance of 27 hours.

In November 2020, the Bayraktar TB2 UCAV initially conducted a successful test-fire using the same ammunition with Aselsan-developed Common Aperture Targeting System (CATS) system. It is an electro-optical reconnaissance, surveillance and targeting system designed for fixed-wing and rotary-wing airborne platforms, including drones helicopters and aircraft.
