Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, has won a $100 million contract to build 25 Black Hawk helicopters for Saudi Arabia.
Work for the contract for 25 modified rotorcraft in support of the Saudi Arabian National Guard will be completed in October 2024.
In 2017, Sikorsky won $3.8 billion contract to manufacture Black Hawks for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Wednesday’s contract follows a $200 million contract awarded in 2018 to provide 17 UH-60 helicopters for Riyadh. These aircraft were delivered to the Royal Saudi Land Forces Airborne Special Security Forces and the Saudi Arabian National Guard.
In January, the White House pulled the plug on the deals with Saudi Arabia including $300 million for munitions and $31 billion for cruise missiles. Opponents of the deal criticize Saudi Arabia for its involvement in the Yemen War, a conflict described by the United Nations as one of the world’s worst humanitarian disasters.
