Russian Helicopters to Repair Brazilian Army’s Mi-35M Choppers

The Mil Mi-35M combat helicopters operated by the Brazilian Air Force will be repaired by Russian Helicopters Holding.

The repair of the helicopters will be carried out within the framework of the offset obligations of the Russian side under the contract for the supply of 12 Mi-35M helicopters to Brazil, Interfax reported, citing the company’s press service.

The contract was signed with Brazilian Industria de Aviacao e Servisos (IAS) in late 2020. Russian Helicopters will provide repair kits for those units that will be repaired in Brazil, supply a number of new components, and also repair some units in the Russian Federation.

Brazil signed a contract worth more than $360 million in October 2008 to acquire 12 Mi-35Ms (AH-2 Sabres), plus training services, spare parts and a five-year package of support. It selected the type following a competition with the AgustaWestland AW109 and AW129 and Eurocopter’s Tiger. The Air Force put first three of these choppers into service in April 2010.
