Locally-made UAS for Reconnaissance & Adjusting Artillery Fire Delivered to Ukrainian Army

The Ukrainian Army has received the locally-made A1-SM Furia flying wing unmanned aerial system (UAS) capable of aerial reconnaissance and adjusting artillery fire.

“According to the order No.115 of 09.04.2020 of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, after successful state tests, the unmanned aerial reconnaissance and artillery fire adjustment system, A1-SM Furia, has officially been approved for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” manufacturer of the unmanned system, Athlon Avia, posted on its official Facebook account on April 10.

The army has received five sets of the drone’s basic version, the A1-C. An upgraded version of the A1-SM, that includes 3 drones and a ground control station, was introduced in 2016.

Power plant: electric, powertrain uses Li-Po / Li-ion battery to 42000 mAh

Time in the air – up to 3 hours

Cruising speed – 65 km/h, maximum – 130 km/h

Range – up to 200 km

Flight mode – manual, semi-automatic, autonomous, launch from catapult, landing in plane mode or parachute.

Service ceiling is -2500 meters Use is allowed at wind speeds of no more than 15 m/s.
