Russia’s Antey-4000 Long-Range Missile System to Debut at IDEX 2021

Russia’s Antey-4000 Long-Range Missile System to Debut at IDEX 2021

IDEX 2021 in Abu Dhabi from February 21-25 will see the first presentation abroad of the Antey-4000 air defense missile system (ADMS), the export version of Russia’s S-300V4 system.

The system will be demonstrated at the Rosoboronexport exposition.

“The Middle East and North Africa are now among key customers in the arms market. This region accounts for about 1/3 of the total market volume. At year-end 2020, the MENA countries accounted for over 50 % of all export supplies through Rosoboronexport,” said Director General of Rostec State Corporation Sergey Chemezov.

“In Abu-Dhabi Rosoboronexport will demonstrate newly-designed products from its export catalogue, including the new armoured personnel carrier and infantry fighting vehicle on the basis of the Boomerang unified wheeled combat platform, air defence missile systems Antei-4000, Viking and Tor-E2, which will be done for the first time in this region,” added Alexander Mikheev.

At the Army 2020 Forum, Almaz-Antey unveiled a “fully digital” Antey-4000 with a range of about 400 km.

Due to the modernization of ground-based equipment and on-board missile equipment, Antey-4000 significantly surpassed its predecessor system in terms of range, altitude and speed of interception of the aerodynamic targets.

Two stages give SAM record speeds when working in both near and extra-long range zones, said the developer. Massive booster engine provides the “sprint” acceleration, which is important when hitting the warheads of ballistic missiles in conditions of the time pressure. The range of hitting aerodynamic targets by 9M83ME missiles has reached 150 km, by 9M82MDE missiles – to 380 km. The altitude is 33 km for 9M82MDE missile.

The capabilities of hitting ballistic targets have expanded significantly. The maximum speed of the targeted warheads of ballistic targets has increased from 4500 to 4800 m/s. The range of hitting the operational-tactical missiles has increased from 30 to 45 km, the height – from 25 to 27 km.

The S-300V4 air defense system, according to the Russian MoD, is already being introduced into the Russian Armed Forces and employed during various field exercises.

In October 2020, the Russian MoD reported that during the massive Kavkaz-2020 drills, the S-300V4 systems repelled the strike of aeroballistic missiles, carrying out combat launches at targets descending from an altitude of more than 200 km.

Also during the IDEX exhibition, Rosoboronexport will hold public presentations of T-14 Armata tank and new types of firearms of Russia’s production – assault rifles KORD, Lebedev pistol and the newest Kalashnikov assault rifle AK-19.
