UAC to Supply 4 MC-21 Aircraft to Rossiya Airlines in 2022

United Aircraft Corp (UAC) will supply 4 units of the MC-21 airliner to Rossiya Airlines in 2022 eventually leading to a production run of 76 aircraft by 2027.

The initial batch of 4 aircraft will be equipped with the U.S. made Pratt & Whitney engines, Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. Rostec is the holding company of UAC.

“In 2023, we will transfer 6 aircraft, in 2024 – 12, by 2025 we should have 32 aircraft, in 2027 – 76 aircraft,” Chemezov said during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

In 2022-2023, tests of the MC-21 with a Russian-made engine begin. Serial production of completely Russian-made aircraft will start in 2024, Rostec top boss added.

In December, UAC constructed the first MC-21-300 aircraft whose wing is made of Russian-made polymer composite materials. The Federal Agency for Air Transport (Rosaviatsia) issued the Irkut Corporation a type certificate for the MC-21-300 later that month. Recently, it performed 12 flights on various routes with passengers on board as part of final certification tests.
