Ukrainian General Dies in Strike by Russian, Rebel Forces, Kyiv TV Tower Hit

In what seems like the first high ranking Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) casualty, a General attached to the UAF’s operational-tactical group (OTG) was killed during a strike at the OTG facility in Donetsk by Russian forces besides Peoples’ Militia of the Luhansk and Donetsk republics.

The high-ranking officer killed was identified as the commander of the OTG North General Krasilnikov, Interfax reported quoting Eduard Basurin, a representative of the People’s Militia of the Donetsk Peoples Republic (DPR).

The headquarters of the operational-tactical group (OTG) of the Ukrainian army was destroyed on Tuesday as a result of a strike by the joint forces of Russia, the Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics, the Interfax report said.

As a result of successful joint actions of the Armed Forces of Russia, the DPR and the Luhansk People’s Republic, the headquarters of the operational-tactical group ‘North’ was destroyed today. Most of the officers of the headquarters were killed. According to our intelligence, the commander of the OTG ‘North,’ General Krasilnikov, was among the dead,” Basurin told reporters on Tuesday.

Kyiv TV Tower Hit

Russian Forces have fired rockets this afternoon, March 1, at the Kyiv TV tower (Dorohozhytsi) in an apparent attempt to silence Ukraine’s TV channels.

Kyivpost reported that there were several casualties with firemen trying to extinguish ground fires.
