OSG (Oran Safety Glass) has introduced a new, lighter and transparent armor solution for the MRAP All Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV).
The new transparent armor has been designed and tested by TACOM. As the new transparent armor solution meets or exceeds program requirements, it has been source-approved by the US Army’s TACOM Life Cycle Management Command, OSG announced Tuesday.
OSG has been supplying transparent armor to the US military for more than a decade.
The M-ATV was designed to provide the same level of protection as the previous larger and heavier MRAPs but with improved mobility.It is used by US military forces and several international military forces.
Exelis announced Friday that it has entered into a cooperative research and development agreement (CRADA) with the Department of Homeland Security's Science and Technology Directorate and the US Coast Guard for testing and demonstration at former LORAN-C sites. Under the CRADA, Exelis will use the former LORAN-C assets to put eLORAN signals in space for research, test and demonstration of the ability of eLORAN to meet precise positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) requirements of government and privately-owned critical infrastructure
General Walt Natynczyk, the Chief of the Defence Staff, welcomed General Knud Bartels, the Chief of Defence of Denmark, to Ottawa on May 13 -14 to discuss a range of issues of common interest, including the Arctic, NATO, Afghanistan, and counter-piracy.
