Ukrainian arms sales have declined 37.4 per cent in 2014 in comparison to arms sales revenue in 2013 largely due to the conflict in the eastern region.
According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institutes (SIPRI) Top 100 defense companies for 2014 report published Monday, “UkrOboronProm has fallen from 58th position in 2013 to 90th in 2014, with a drop in sales of 50.2 per cent. Motor Sich, the other Ukrainian company that was ranked in the 2013 Top 100, has left the list altogether.”
“The noticeable decline in sales for Ukrainian companies was largely due to disruption caused by the conflict in eastern Ukraine, the loss of the Russian market, and the fall in the value of the local currency,” said SIPRI Senior Researcher Siemon Wezeman.
Eleven Russian firms are now ranked in the Stockholm International Peace Research Institutes (SIPRI) Top 100 defense companies for 2014 compared to nine in 2013.
