Czech Republic Purchases Israeli Radar Systems

Czech Republic has purchased eight Israel made multimission Radar (MMR) systems—used in Iron Dome and David's Sling missile-defense systems, to replace its Soviet-era radar systems.

The IAI Elta Systems made systems estimated to cost CZK2.9 billion (USD112.3 million), will arrive in the Czech Republic after construction in Israel, between 2019-2021.

Czech Minister of Defense Martin Stropnicky told AP that the radars will be used for air defense, with the ability to detect anything flying between 100 meters and three kilometers above the Czech Republic, such as low flying aircraft violating Czech airspace.

MMR Radars are used to identify and locate incoming rockets but is also able to identify other aerial targets within a 250km radius. According to IAI, the radar can track up to 1,100 targets simultaneously.
