Russian Mine-resistant Assault Vehicle Catches Fire
Modular vehicle 'Ural-63095'

A Russian Typhoon-U modular assault vehicle caught fire near a military training ground near Molkino, North Caucasus Sunday.

The Modular vehicle, 'Ural-63095' is used for training military units of the Southern Military district, according to reports by Defense-blog.

A Soldier was injured while trying to extinguish the fire. No other details were disclosed about the incident.

Typhoon-U developed as part of Russia’s Taifun vehicle programme is a 24-ton modular armored vehicle utilizes a 6×6 wheeled chassis fitted with special armor plates combining steel and ceramic to provide all-round ballistic protection against small arms fire for the crew, troops and cargo up to 14.5mm piercing ammunition.

It has a 450 horsepower YaMZ-5367 turbodiesel engine, six-speed automatic transmission, a hydropneumatic suspension providing for variable ground clearance, and are capable of highway cruising speeds up to 80 km/h. The Typhoon-U can transport 16 fighters plus three crew.
