MBDA has appointed Eric Béranger a new chief executive officer (CEO) with effect from 1 June 2019, replacing Antoine Bouvier.
Over the past 20 years Éric has worked in a number of senior positions in Airbus Defence and Space, and most lately led Global Communications Company OneWeb, MBDA said in a press release.
“Having delivered growth, innovation and transformation in high technology businesses, it is an honour for me to be joining MBDA, a truly world-leading European missile systems company. As a champion of European industrial integration, I am looking forward to bringing all my knowledge, experience and energy to MBDA – the benchmark of successful European integration within the defence sector," Béranger said.
MBDA and ALPhANOV inaugurated their common Vulnerability Test Facility (VTF) to test the effects of lasers on materials which will help in the development of laser weapons. The VTF has the ability to simulate many of the real world conditions of a real-life laser firing, including: the imperfections of pointing a dynamic beam, employment against crossing and spinning targets, and the complex interactions between the laser and target materials, among others
MBDA has test-fired latest iteration of the precision-strike weapon, Brimstone 3. Conducted at the Vidsel range in Sweden, the telemetry unit-equipped Brimstone 3 was deployed from a surface launcher against a pick-up truck target, the company said in a statement
