South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) has approved a plan to acquire new drones and anti-drone guns for the military under the emergency route.

DAPA Officials told Yonhap that the country wants to acquire two types of surveillance drones, small unmanned aircraft and portable anti-drone guns for 30 billion won ($25.03 million) by September this year.

“More items are under review for additional acquisition through this process this year,” the source added.

The military hardware will be procured through DAPA’s “rapid acquisition process" launched in May.
