FN Herstal To Use Eurosatory To Launch New Tactical Precision Rifle
12:00 AM, June 8, 2012
Belgian arms manufacturer FN Herstal will unveil the tactical version of the SCAR-H precision rifle that was first introduced in 2011. The new TPR (Tactical Precision Rifle) variant provides a range of additions which include a non-foldable ‘sniper-type’ stock, which is adjustable in length by ten positions and height by eight positions. The changes will allow operators to easily accommodate their body armour, web gear and head position when using iron or optical sights.
‘The new FN SCAR-H TPR offers the same performances and benefits than the
FN SCAR-H PR model,’ the company said in a statement. ‘Both are lightweight, yet durable, and guarantee rapid and accurate fire at long and close ranges. They both come standard with extended upper, lower and lateral MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rails, a steel magazine (10- or 20-round capacity), and a multi-position fire selector (either safe and semi-auto or safe, semi-auto and full auto).’ Herstal will also display the SmartCore electronic system which is able to analyze and record the conditions of use of the equipped weapon along with other weapons which include deFNder Medium remote weapon station (RWS) on a VAB Mk II 4x4 vehicle and the deFNder Light RWS on a Higuard mine resistant ambush protected vehicle.
