Cobham’s Brazilian subsidiary has secured its first major contract to equip State Police helicopters with High Definition (HD) video surveillance downlinks which will be used on helicopters in 12 cities during the 2013 Confederations Cup and the 2014 World Cup.
The contract was developed with a local integration partner following the opening of the Cobham’s Sao Paulo office in August 2012 and includes both airborne and ground based equipment.
Cobham’s cost-effective HD solution provides a highly robust and mission critical platform that is independent of public or commercially available networks such as expensive satellite communications. The solution transmits HD quality video that is sharper and clearer than ordinary standard definition, over long distances ensuring critical live operational information is available to keep cities safe.
Cobham’s HD solution provides the ability to see more details or have a wider coverage of all events – a key consideration in video surveillance applications.
VP Cobham Tactical Communications and Surveillance, David Ashton, said, “This is an exciting development for Cobham’s Brazilian business, following the opening of our office in Sao Paulo last year.
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has awarded a new contract to continue its dedicated airborne search and rescue capability when the current contracts expire. Cobham SAR Services Pty Ltd will begin providing a search and rescue service for AMSA from August 2016
Cobham announces that its acquisition of Aeroflex Holding Corp has been successfully completed following the receipt of regulatory and shareholder approvals. The transaction has an enterprise value of approximately US$1,460m
Cobham will exhibit at the the Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems Internationals (AUVSI) Unmanned Systems 2014 conference and trade show 13-15 May at the Orange Country Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
